Artist Statement | Behind the aperture...

Welcome! :)

I am Sim, an outdoor photographer primarily focusing on landscapes along with portrait and abstract expressions. Presently based in Texas, I enjoy travelling and capturing the spectacular. With a touch of wonder, a dash of drama and a pinch of surrealism, my endeavor is to foster an appreciation of nature and emote a sense of beauty.

The art has intrigued me since childhood. But it was in the fall of 2011 when I bought my first DSLR (Sony α65) and thus, began my serious relationship with photography. In 2014, I graduated to a full-framer (Nikon D810). I have not looked back since...except for bears!

Speaking of graduation, I moved from Delhi to the U.S. to pursue higher education. I have an MBA and a degree in Computer Science. It was during my years in undergrad that I developed a proper taste for outdoor exploration. I have started a quest to visit all the U.S. National Parks (NP). Currently, I've visited 54 out of the 63.

My itineraries are centered around NP's which are truly gems for nature lovers. Typically, I survey areas of interest around these parks and incorporate them into the plan. As I move closer to finishing my NP quest, since 2018, I've begun travelling internationally more often. I enjoy chasing the Milky Way, rejuvenating at waterfalls and unravelling the mysterious.

I hope you enjoy my perspective shared through my photographs. Besides the gallery, you can follow my Instagram handle (@simexposure) to view all my images and stories from my journey! Feel free to send me a message regarding printing, photography, travel or business-related inquiries.

FYI, the Infinity S monogram that I use in my imagery derives meaning from an interpretation of my name "Simanta" - no limits, which is a working principle behind The Sim Exposure.
